The Four Things I Remember

The first, upon arriving, was the sight of a young, remarkably distraught police officer being comforted by his colleagues.

The second was the large, blue tarp spread over the floor of a classroom covering the remnants of the nightmare.

The third was the sound of parents upon being notified.  I still hear that sound sometimes in my memory.

The fourth was the "This is a gun-free zone" sign on the shattered glass doors.
