More Facts about Australia


In 1770, Captain Cook's on-board "natural philosopher", what we would now call a biologist/zoologist, whose name was Joseph Banks, collected so many unknown species of flora during the British discovery of Australia that he increased the world's catalog of plants by 25%.  In fact, the Natural History Museum in London had yet to catalog them all by the end of the 20th century.
